Before I Majorly Screw Up Again...
I need to ask you all a question.
I created a character that I leveled to seven but want to delete her and start over again. I have removed all of her equipment and placed it in storage. I realize that I will lose the attained skills but will I be able to reuse all of the equipment I attained and customized if I give the new character the same name of the character I'm deleting? Or does that even matter? Any other considerations I need to think of? Thank you for your patience and please forgive my newbiousness. |

If you customize an item for one character it cannot be used by another character even if it the new character had the same name

You can, however, salvage the Runes/Inscriptions off of the armor and reuse them and salvage any mods or inscriptions off of weapons (even if they are customized) and use those to mod new weapons and armor.

Define "screw up." I assume you're planning to make another char of the same class... but why?
If you don't like the secondary, you'll be able to unlock all of them at a later point of the game, and all the campaigns should be able to get you to that point without having to use a secondary at all. In almost all cases, creating two chars of the same class or deleting an existing one for another of the same class is just a waste of time since you can correct your "mistakes" in less time than it takes to raise a new char. |

if your armor is not 1k (or 15k), don't worry about it. you can easily replace it.

May I suggest that if you're going to delete that character, you salvage the armour for materials anyway? You won't be able to use it on your new character and you'll have got some of the materials back - which you can use on the new set of armour.

Here's a suggestion for future characters for you, assuming you choose to play more than one profession: make your character at least a week before you plan on playing it, as a PvP character. Look at it every day, preferably walking around Great Temple of Balthazar next to other characters and not just on the loading screen. Try out various PvP armour styles in various colours to check for clipping and to make sure your preferred colour suits their skin/hair. It should give you chance to check face and hair styles, skin and hair colour, height and name on for size before wasting time and in-game money on a character you later dislike for one or more of the above reasons, plus you can make sure the name you want for your character is free before you commit to a look. I've started doing this lately and it's saved me quite a few remakes. |

@Mister Smartypants - very good advice
@OP - another solution (if you can spare the Real World cash) is to purchase a Makeover Pack from ArenaNet. I believe it is $10 and you get 5 makeovers (not including gender change) or one makeover with gender change.

glacialphoenix - Will do. Thank you.
Thank you MSP! excellent suggestion. (you really are a Smartypants!) Darcy - Thank you! Have a makeover pack but you have to get to the Temple Of Balthazar to access the NPC to make the change. Lions Arch is a long way from I am now. Last edited by ambergris; Jul 30, 2009 at 01:13 PM // 13:13.. |

Sounds like you are in the prophecies area since you mentioned Lions Arch.
Here is my suggestion. You have a make over so, just continue the game killing everything that you can on the way to LA. If there are area's that you can kill stuff solo, then do that to raise cash. It will not take you but a week playing slowly to get yourself to LA where you can use your Makeover and save yourself some gold. Identify everything where the writing is not white - you know what I mean. That can net you more gold. Fort Ranik has lots of charr that can be killed fairly easily. Charr carvings will sell for a nice bit of gold like 6-7K a stack. At one of the festivals coming up you can trade 3 carvings for 1 level 5 drink. Level 5 drinks sell for 250 gold really really fast. that's 20K a stack if you can wait that long. WAIT.. wait....just had a though. Do you have a character in pre? If you do then get your Gifts of the huntsman. You will get 35 of them in a week in pre with not that much trouble. Run them to post with a mule or some way. Open them and sell the items. That is 17,000 gold a week for like 20 minutes a day farming. That should help. |

Personally I'd weigh the time difference between remaking the character and using the real world money for the makeover. For example, I had a paragon that I decided I didn't like the looks of. But rather than spend money on that character, I decided to remake her. She hadn't done a whole lot in game and was only a few months old. I also had an elementalist that I wanted to change the hair style on, but to remake and get her to the same spot in game would have been very long and tedious (not to mention the fact that that elementalist is nearly four years old now). In that case the real world money was definitely the way to go. |

(I'm trying a Ne/Me combo now as opposed to my recent Ne/Mo and I'm just not that good yet (yet? bahahaha). As a matter of fact, as it has been said elsewhere, my GW Fu is a poem of two words, I suck!) I've been throwing Charr carvings away or selling them to merchants for a mere pittance. As a matter of fact due to lack of storage space, I've been recently leaving them on the ground. Who'da thunk it? Thanks. |

You say you're having trouble in Post - what level are you, and where are you at? If you need any help with anything, you can go ahead and poke me in-game, btw. Last edited by Verene; Jul 30, 2009 at 05:39 PM // 17:39.. |

And don't beat yourself up over the Charr carvings. For a short time when I first started playing I was selling dyes to the merchant (at one gold per bottle). I don't think I sold a black dye, but I'm pretty sure I sold a silver. But if you're continually having problems, give details. What are you trying to do, what does your skill bar look like, et cetera. Also keep in mind that the henchmen in Prophecies are easily replaced by small wooden boxes (that is, the henchies are painfully dumb sometimes). So heroes or other players may help a lot. |

Verene & glacialphoenix, thank you, I'll add your names to my lengthening friend's list.
Thanks for the encouragement nkuvu! I will try to be more detailed but I have trouble remembering names and just what the heck I was doing sometimes. LOL nkuvu & Verene - my latest character is a level 8 Ne/Me named Avril Xyllar and I'm in Piken Square. Thank you everyone, I'm really sorry, I really didn't want to make this another "poor ambergris" thread, I am merely stating the cold hard facts. I'm not real good at this game for various reasons and I'm ok with that. As stated in another thread, I'm a dinosaur button masher that typically plays console type, first person shooters and this is all very new and very different. Not crazy about keyboard and mouse play either. I need a joy stick style controller in my hand. LOL You folks have been very generous in your offers to help me and for that I am grateful. in a sence I think your trying to get through game asap
whereas you can be level 10 under 1hr 1/2 in pre and your deleting at 7???? or your jumping out of pre into post to quickly...guys who do this have cash for runs or a guild who will run them if they leave early. The quests/missions in post in proficies will release skills for free. Take hench out with you when you explore or do quests dont solo . thats why pre is called training just like the islands in n/f and factions its to learn you some basics before you leave , thats why i think your trying to rush things. Cant your guild not assist you in some way also as thats what they are for to help fellow guildies along(including new players) if not then something wrong there |
